What to do in Guadeloupe ?

Activities within 30' driving around your cottage

You are 5 minutes from the entrance to Guadeloupe National Park and its rainforest with rivers, waterfalls, and hiking trails. In about 30 minutes by car, you can reach Deshaies, Pointe-Noire, and Bouillante in Basse-Terre, or Gosier, Pointe-à-Pitre, or Morne-à-l'Eau in Grande-Terre. The island's most remote locations, such as La SoufriÚre volcano and Saint-François, are about an hour's drive away.

See the photos for an overview of activities to do within a 30-minute drive:

* TWO TREE CLIMBING PARKS so that adults and children can discover the rainforest from above while having fun (Petit Bourg and Pointe Noire).

* A ZOO where felines, raccoons and parrots live in the heart of the forest (Pointe Noire)

* The famous COUSTEAU MARINE RESERVE and other diving or snorkeling sites to explore corals and multicolored fish (Bouillante)

* A coastline bordered by the calm waters of the MANGROVE, ideal for paddleboarding, kayaking or boating (Sainte Rose and Morne Ă  l'Eau).

* Vanilla, coffee and cocoa plantations to visit to discover their production and processing secrets (Sainte Rose and Pointe Noire)

* TWO BOTANICAL GARDENS with rich and surprising tropical flora and fauna (Petit Bourg and Deshaies). Another botanical garden, less known but worth to visit is in Basse terre.

* RIVERS AND WATERFALLS perfect for picnics and refreshing swims, or for rappelling if you're feeling adventurous. (National Park and Leeward Coast)

* Numerous BEACHES, some wild and others dotted with charming little restaurants, where you can happily sip a planter's punch and enjoy accras under the coconut palms. Depending on the weather, you can choose to go to the beach at Gosier, Sainte Rose, Deshaies, or Bouillante, or a little further afield to Sainte Anne (40 minutes).

* A LAGOON with turquoise waters where small boats take you on excursions past deserted white sand islets until sunset (Sainte Rose, Morne Ă  l'Eau)

* Guadeloupe NATIONAL PARK and its many hiking trails and discovery paths.

* A welcoming LOCAL POPULATION in a part of the island less frequented by tourists.

Your hosts

Anita, a native of Guadeloupe, returned to her native country in 1993, after a long career in the hotel industry in Europe, then in Guadeloupe. Now a young retiree, proud of her island and its culture, she likes to share the little secrets of the easy West Indian way of life and the Creole garden.

Henri arrived on the butterfly island in 1992. Having fallen in love with the islands of Guadeloupe and the island and Caribbean way of life, he first worked there in tourism as a diving instructor, leisure agent, tourist guide, receptionist. .. Then he fell in love with Anita and life has continued together since 1998.

Installed in their house in Lamentin since 2000, it was in 2009 that they chose to open it to visitors in search of authenticity. They bring the greatest care and their personality to the layout which mixes country simplicity and hotel refinement. To the delight of visitors who always leave with the Guadeloupe banana ;-)
